Susan Williamson Parks of Mineola went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ after 71 years on Sept. 19, 2020. She was born on March 22, 1949 in Wheeler, the devoted daughter of the late Audie Myatt Williamson and James Robert Williamson. Susan was the widow of Tom Parks. She is survived by her brother, Jim R. Williamson, and stepsister, Nancy M. Neuhoff, in addition to dozens of cousins, nieces and nephews. Susan graduated from Lovington High School in 1967 and received a BS from McMurray University in 1971 where she was active in many student organizations and served as president of Delta Beta Epsilon social club. She had many high school and college friends who continued to meet regularly throughout their lives. Her professional career started as a teacher, but she found her true calling in sales. Susan had a successful career with AT&T before taking an early retirement. She continued her love of sales and meeting the public by opening Clairee’s Closet in Mineola. She enjoyed playing mah jongg and bridge, and she was a member of Mineola Study Club and PEO. The people who knew her best will remember her as having an undying faith, a courageous spirit, a quick wit, a love of dogs and a personality full of love and laughter coupled with a contagious smile. She was appropriately nicknamed Sparky. Her service will be Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020 at the Grand Saline Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to her church, the American Cancer Society specifying breast cancer research or a charity of your choice.
