Symphonic Band to end year with Christmas concert

The Lake Country Symphonic Band will ring in the holidays this year as they present Winter Fantasy, a concert full of Christmas classics this week.

The concerts will be Sunday at 2 p.m., with an encore performance Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Joining the band will be soprano singer Jillian Brandon, who will perform “A Grown-up Christmas List.” Music by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Mannheim Steamroller will also be performed, as well as a piece arranged by David Lovrien of The Dallas Winds called “Minor Alterations.”

Concluding the program will be Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival” and Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”

There will be an appearance by Santa at intermission, who will be available for pictures with children and whispers of gift wishes.

Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children 11 and under. Reservations are required.

Season tickets also now on sale for the band’s 2018 season, which will begin with the concerts set for March 4 and 6.

All the Christmas performance will be held at the historic Select Theater at 114 N. Johnson Street, in Mineola.
