The Lake Country Symphonic Band will once again perform in public with a concert set for Nov. 15 at 2 p.m.

Presenting a program originally scheduled for March, the concert has been renamed “Better Late Than Never.”

In order to facilitate all its ticket holders, the location has been moved to the Mineola Civic Center at 1150 N. Newsom St., one block east of Brookshire’s.

There will be only one performance of the concert.

The program will feature a wide variety of music, including the stirring “Parade of the Charioteers” from Ben Hur, a lively Irish piece titled “Lanigan’s Ball,” Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Russian Easter Overture” and “The Pines of the Appian Way,” the concluding movement of Respighi’s “The Pines of Rome.” The concert will also feature the world premiere of a piece by the band’s composer-in-residence, Kelly Bennette, entitled “The Sword of St. Michael.” Additionally, there will be a musical tribute to Jasper Huff, a long-time member of the band who passed away in late 2019.

The performance will begin at 2 p.m., and the doors of the Civic Center will open at 1:15 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children 11 and under. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made by calling the office of Lake Country Playhouse, 903-569-2300.

The Christmas concert has been moved up to Dec. 6 at 2 p.m., also at the Mineola Civic Center.
