• The Mineola Lady Jackets will play for the area championship in a one game playoff against 29-1 Pilot Point Friday night at Rockwall beginning at 7:30 p.m.

• The boys will begin a three-game series Friday at 7:30 p.m. at J.J. Tillery Field in Mesquite playing Palmer. Game two will be at noon Saturday.

• On Friday the extension service’s Pond Management Field Day will be held at Greene Lake outside of Emory. Call the extension office at 903-763-2924 for more information.

• The Third Annual Quitman-Lake Fork Kiwanis Club Benefit Golf Tournament will be Saturday at the Links at Land’s End. It will be a shotgun start and the four person team scramble has an entry fee of $300 per team. Tournament proceeds are used to help the children in our community through various projects. • The First United Methodist Church of Mineola will hold a garage sale on Friday and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ministries Center at 612 North Newsom Street.

• The Yantis Catfish Classic is Friday and Saturday at Lake Fork. Registration is at Minnow Bucket Marina and the event is a fundraiser for the fire department.

• On Saturday the All Pro Lineman Challenge will be hosted by Mineola High School. There will be competition between athletes from all size schools in everything from obstacle course to the final event, a big tug of war. It starts at 9 a.m. and goes until finished, usually after lunchtime. It is open to public and free.

• The Bread of Life fundraising breakfast is Saturday at First Baptist Church in Mineola from 7 to 9:30 a.m. The meal is a fundraiser for the food pantry.

• The First United Methodist Church of Mineola will hold a garage sale on Saturday at the Ministries Center at 612 North Newsom Street.

• The Fannie Marchman Garden Club’s Spring Sale will be held on Saturday at Grace Community Healthcare on Pacific Street in Mineola from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Plants, yard and art décor will be offered.

• The World Championship Bass on The Fly Fishing Tournament is Saturday at Lake Fork Marina from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Also on Saturday The Holy Spirit Catholic Church is holding an International Food Fest at their location on Farm-to-Market 2869 just north of the gates to Holly Lake Ranch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• The North East Texas Choral Society presents “Touchstone,” the music that makes your heart remember. It will be Saturday at 7 p.m. and again Sunday at 2 p.m. The location is the Sulphur Springs High School auditorium (formerly the Hopkins County Civic Center).

• The Alba-Golden Lady Panthers will play Pottsboro in a two out of three series for the area championship beginning this Thursday at 6 p.m. at Texas A&M Commerce. The second game will be Saturday at the same location with a third game played in Commerce if needed.
