• The Home Sweet Home for the Holidays Program will be Thursday at 10a.m. and again at 6p.m. (same program repeated) in the Fellowship Hall at First Christian Church in Mineola. The program will feature holiday craft and gift ideas and demonstrations. Admission is $7 for adults and $1 for children

• Alba-Golden School District is hosting a breakfast at 8:15 a.m. Friday to celebrate Veterans Day. The breakfast will follow with an assembly to honor the veterans in attendance. Mineola School District is also hosting a program Friday at 9 a.m. to honor veterans for Veterans Day.

• The Mineola Marine Corps will hold a Veterans Day parade Saturday at 11:11 a.m. at the gazebo in downtown Mineola.

• The annual Veterans Day program at Quitman High School will be Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the school auditorium. All veterans will be honored during the program.

• The Second Annual Caddo Cove Veterans Day Chili Cook-Off, 5K Run and Craft Sale is Saturday at lake Quitman. The Turkey Trot 5K will be at 8:30 a.m. and the chili cook-off from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information call 903-878-7473. Proceeds from the event will benefit veterans of Wood County and Hurricane Harvey survivors.

• Quitman’s Salute to Veterans will be Saturday at Jim Hogg City Park at 2 p.m. Veterans will be honored and there will be special speakers and information about veterans programs in Wood County.

• The 38th annual Hainesville Stew and Live Auction will be Saturday at 5 p.m. at 3312 Farm-to-Market 49. The menu will include beef stew, chicken and beef boudin.

• The Great Benjamin circus is in Quitman at Bud Moody stadium Tuesday with a 7 p.m. showtime. Tickets are available at
