This Week in Your Neighborhood


• The Mineola Yellowjacket Baseball Team will be hosting game one of their opening round playoff series tonight (Wednesday) against Sunnyvale. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. Mineola will then travel to play Sunnyvale on the road on Friday that game will also begin at 7 p.m.

• The Alba-Golden Lady Panthers Softball Team will travel to face Howe in the area (second) round of the UIL playoffs in Commerce tomorrow (Thursday) at 5:30 p.m.

• The Mineola Lady Jackets softball team will travel to face Farmersville in the area (second) round of the UIL playoffs in Royce City tomorrow (Thursday) at 7 p.m.

• The Mineola Area Chamber of Commerce will host their first ever Mineola May Fiesta Day Festival Saturday, in downtown Mineola from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature live entertainment from a mariachi band, Djs and folkloric band and Aztec dancers. Authentic Mexican food will be served and there will be a beer tent, arts and crafts and plenty of other entertainment

• The Yantis Catfish Classic will be Saturday and Sunday at Lake Fork with headquarters at the Minnow Bucket just south of the Highway 154 Bridge. After Saturday’s fishing competition there will be a parade in downtown Yantis at 5:30 p.m. followed by a bar-b-q dinner and entertainment by Dale “The C” Cummings at the Yantis School Cafeteria. All proceeds after expenses goes to the Yantis Volunteer Fire Department.
