• Quitman’s Meet the Bulldogs will be at Bud Moody Stadium Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Ice cream will be served and students involved in football, volleyball, cross country and band will be introduced.

• Mineola’s “Meet the Yellow Jackets” is set for Friday at 7 p.m. followed by Midnight Madness at 9 p.m. at Meredith Memorial stadium.

• The Dog Days of Summer Blood Drive benefiting the Mineola Animal Shelter will be held Friday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tractor Supply, 1451 S. Pacific St. For every unit of blood donated, Carter BloodCare will make a donation in the form of supplies to the Animal Shelter. Give the gift of life while also supporting the local shelter.

• Breakfast With a Heart will host an all you can eat breakfast at the Mineola Ministry Center, 612 N Newsom from 7 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11.   A $7 donation is normal.

• First United Methodist Church, 612 N. Newsom St., in Mineola will host an all-you-can-eat Bread Fast from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 11. The suggested donation is $7 for adults and $4 for children. Proceeds from the meal will benefit The Bread of Life Ministries Food Pantry.

• Dogs for Democrats: Wood County Democratic Club is hosting a meet and greet for congressional candidates Catherine Krantz, Shirley McKellar, and Dan Wood. Hot dogs and other goodies served for a donation. Sunday, August 12, 2018, 3pm-5pm at the Quitman library.
