Anchor Club attends convention
Despite the inclement weather, Quitman High School (QHS) Anchor Club made it the state convention in Frisco February 27 through March 1. At the convention, Quitman sophomore Maria Flores was named State Treasurer. The QHS anchors were successful winning first place scrapbook, third place yearbook, the ASAP award and were honored as the state's third place Anchor Club.
There are 28 Anchor Clubs in Texas but only 16 were able to make it the convention due to the bad weather that plagued the entire state. All anchors attending did a service project where they made 48 knotted fleece blankets that were given to local adult rehab and assisted living facilities.
