•Local author Sarah Elisabeth Sawyer is scheduled to appear at the Alba Public Library at 1 p.m. Saturday to discuss her latest book “Anumpa Warrior.”

•Carter Blood Care will hold a community blood drive on Friday, May 10, from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Wood County Electric Cooperative, 501 S. Main Street in Quitman.

•Mineola High School spring concert, Thursday, May 9, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

•Quitman Junior High presents the “Wizard of Oz” dinner theater on May 9 at 6 p.m. and general admission at 7 p.m. Dinner theater costs $15 and general admission costs $5. There will be an encore performance on May 10 at general admission cost of $5.

•Quitman Proud Blue Band will host its end of the year banquet at First Baptist Church in Quitman on Saturday, May 11 at 6 p.m.

•Quitman High School Scholarship Night will be held at QHS auditorium on Monday, May 13 at 7 p.m.

•The Mineola Metric 100 bike ride begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Nature Preserve.

•The Harry Meredith Special mini train will give rides (weather permitting) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Iron Horse Square in Mineola. The Mineola Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the pavilion in downtown Mineola.
