The Sound of the Swarm block party fundraiser will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at the gazebo in downtown Mineola.

Quitman FFA/Young Farmers will host an auction on Friday, May 17 at 5 p.m. at the Quitman High School show barn.

The Dogwood Pageant in Quitman is set for Saturday, May 18 at 1 p.m. in the QHS auditorium. Pageant tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. There will be activities after the pageant on the square in downtown.

Allen Smith of the Texas A&M Forest Service will teach the class “Insect Friends and Foes” on May 18 as a part of Nature University at the Wood County Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. The class is from 9 to 11 a.m. and costs $25.

The Quitman spring sports reception will be held May 20 in the QHS auditorium at 7 p.m. The event will honor high school athletes in basketball, power lifting, baseball, softball, track & field, golf and tennis.

Quitman Spring Band Concert will be held May 21 at 6 p.m. in the QHS auditorium.

Sand Springs Baptist Church in Mineola, 3208 CR 2330, will host an informational event on how to help children in need this Saturday at 10 a.m. For more information, call 903-497-8790.

Mineola Farmers Market will be open on Saturday morning in downtown Mineola.
