Mineola High School will conduct commencement beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, May 24, at Meredith Memorial Stadium.

Yantis High School will conduct commencement at 6 p.m. Saturday at the high school gym.

Mineola Dental will have a ribbon-cutting and a kick start to summer celebration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 344 NW Loop 564, Suite 400 in Mineola. Attendees can win prizes, dental exams, teeth cleanings and more.

The Mineola Farmers Market will open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the pavilion on Front Street.

Memorial Day services are planned for 11:30 a.m. until noon at the grounds of the Wood County Courthouse.

Special Olympics returns in style

After a five-year absence, over 150 athletes from Como-Pickton, Cedar Creek and Upshur and Wood Counties competed for special recognition at a state-sanctioned Special Olympics track and field meet at the Quitman High School track field on Friday, April 5.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
