Decorating for the December mini-train runs at Iron Horse Square gets under way Nov. 25.
The free rides are scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings, Dec. 6 and 7, to coordinate with the Magical Mineola events downtown on Friday and the annual Christmas parade on Saturday.
Additional runs are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14 and 21.
The mini-train had its best usage yet during the Iron Horse Heritage Festival, with 803 riders on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The commission is awaiting arrival of the next two state historical markers, for musician Jack Rhoades to be placed on Commerce St., and the New Hope School, to be placed in its former location on FM 1801 east of town.
Directors discussed this year’s request from the Meredith Foundation, which will be for an historical information sign at Iron Horse Square.
