OCTOBER 14 Deputy Kevin Atkinson was dispatched to CR 1726 in Yantis at approximately 1:30 AM in reference to a missing person. The reporting party advised he had last seen his mother at about 2:30 pm the previous day.

Deputy Kevin Atkinson was dispatched to CR 1726 in Yantis at approximately 1:30 AM in reference to a missing person. The reporting party advised he had last seen his mother at about 2:30 pm the previous day. The man further stated that his mother had called both he and his sister at about 9:30 PM and sounded distressed.

According to the man he and his sister arrived at the residence at 12:30 AM and searched the area with negative results. The search, which lasted eleven hours, eventually included manpower from several fire departments, DPS, Hopkins County Sheriff's Office with a search dog and Texas Parks and Wildlife. The body of Maria Garcia was found in a pond on CR 1730. An autopsy was ordered and results are pending.

Deputy Steven Fields took a theft report from a complainant on CR 2168. The man stated that earlier in the evening a man driving a black Ford Bronco stopped at his residence and asked him questions about some of the items in his front yard. The complainant later discovered a green and gray tackle box, valued at $200, missing from his yard. This case has now been assigned to an investigator who will attempt to locate the man driving the Bronco for questioning.

Deputy Steven Fields was dispatched to an address on FM 49 in regards to a possible structure fire. Fields arrived to find the fire department already on scene. The only damage was to a tractor located in the middle stall of a barn. The owner of the barn advised he had just purchased the old tractor and had no idea how the fire may have started. Fire department personnel stated they believe the fire was possibly caused by an electrical short in the tractor. The case has been forwarded to the county's fire marshal.

Deputy Kevin Atkinson was dispatched to an address on North Main Street in Yantis in response to a 911 call in which a woman stated a female was attempting to break into her house. Upon arrival, Atkinson spoke with the complainant who stated the other woman was intoxicated and had attempted to drive off with children in the car. The suspect admitted drinking a bottle of wine and Atkinson noted she was belligerent and cursing during his conversation with her. The complainant advised Atkinson she had offered to drive the woman and children wherever they needed to go but the suspect became aggressive prompting her call to 911. Jennifer Laura Thomason, 45, of Yantis was arrested and transported to jail. She is charged with public intoxication.

Deputy Tucker George was dispatched to Alamosa Lane at Holly Lake Ranch for a disturbance in progress. George was advised that a male subject was heard screaming on the phone and it sounded as though he was being assaulted. Deputy George arrived at the location and made contact with the man who had a busted lip and a scratch on his nose. The man invited George into the residence where the odor of marijuana was immediately noticed. During Deputy George's questioning of the two, both admitted to participating in a physical altercation following an argument over money.

Both parties also stated they did not wish to pursue charges in the matter. While in the house, George observed a mason jar which was half full of what appeared to marijuana. A small amount of suspected marijuana was also found on a table in the living area. The man admitted the drugs belonged to him. Drug paraphernalia was located as well. Darran Lee Wiler, 50, Hawkins, was arrested and transported to jail. He is charged with possession of marijuana two ounces or less.

Deputy Terri Altman was dispatched to CR 1835 and FM 1483 near Yantis for a report of criminal mischief. The complainant stated someone had dismantled her electric fence and allowed her two horses and one mule to roam free. The woman advised she had been at the property about 8:30 PM the previous night and all was well but when she arrived this morning she found several posts pulled out of the ground and other posts bent.

The electric fence tape was found stretched across the property and the spool was located approximately 60 feet from its original location. Altman searched but was unable to locate the copper ground rod. The complainant advised the cost to replace and repair the fence would be about $400. This case was forwarded and assigned to an investigator who will attempt to develop leads.

Deputy Tucker George was dispatched to FM 1483 for a report of criminal mischief. The complainant advised he had gone to town for dinner and returned home at about 8:00 PM to find that his electric gate would not open. Further examination revealed the small copper wiring running from his fence's control panel to the electrical box had been cut. The man estimated the cost to repair the damages would be about $300. The case was forwarded to CID for continued investigation.

Deputies Terri Altman and Donivan South were dispatched to CR 3582 near Winnsboro in response to a disturbance. Upon arrival, fire personnel were on scene extinguishing a fire in an RV style trailer. The deputies spoke with a woman who stated she and her boyfriend had heard a couple arguing in the trailer next to them and her boyfriend yelled at the couple to stop. According to the woman, the other man then came at them with a knife at which point she walked up the driveway and returned a short time later to see the other man waving an ax at her boyfriend. The other couple then got into a car and left the scene. Shortly after, the complainant observed the RV on fire and she and her boyfriend went inside and pulled out a burning mattress before calling 911. This case has been referred to investigators who will continue to work the case.

On October 8, 2015 Investigators with the sheriff's office conducted a follow up investigation into a disturbance call that occurred a few days prior. During the disturbance call it was reported that Mr. Claston Bearden had held a gun to the head of the female reporting party during a fight. Investigators knew that Mr. Bearden was a convicted felon and therefore could not possess a firearm.

Investigators made contact with Mr. Bearden at his residence and gained consent to search his home for weapons. A glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine was located on the coffee table of the home. Investigators spoke with Mr. Bearden who confessed that he had smoked methamphetamine recently. Investigators then arrested Mr. Bearden for the paraphernalia and booked the parolee into the Wood County Jail.

Sgt. Josh O'Grady recently received a case involving the theft of a motor vehicle which occurred in the Winnsboro area. The vehicle was located not long after being reported stolen and we were able to get it returned to the owner as well as obtain suspect information. More evidence is still being collected in order to obtain a solid case against the suspected party.

Another vehicle was in the process of being reported stolen from the Hawkins area however we were able to locate it just after it was taken. The vehicle was located on the side of HWY 80 and has since been secured and awaiting for the correct subjects to pick it up. Although the vehicle has been located Investigators are still currently follow leads in order to obtain suspect information.

The Sheriff's Office recently received a case from the Winnsboro area involving the Theft of Firearm. Throughout the course of this Investigation, Sgt. Josh O'Grady has been able to obtain a suspect's name and is currently receiving critical information in order to obtain the stolen firearm as well as place the suspect in jail.

Zachary Ramirez, 26, Mineola, motion to revoke, assault causes bodily injury, family.

Jacqueline Delane Britton, 45, Mineola, fraudulent use/possession of identifying information.

Jennifer Laura Thomason, 45, Yantis, public intoxication.

Darran Lee Wiler, 50, Hawkins, possession of marijuana two ounces or less.

Ted Wayne Morris, Jr., 34, Quitman, capias pro fine, theft less than $50.

Clifton Ashton Wade, 26, Quitman, bond forfeiture, assault causes bodily injury, family.

Jason Lynn Bearden, 37, Winnsboro, criminal mischief $500 or more, but less than $1,500.
