Traditional New Year foods for Alba cookoff

Black-eyed peas and cabbage will be the featured food at a cook off New Year’s Day in Alba.

The Alba Economic Development Corp. will award $125 prizes for the best black-eyed peas and best cabbage.

All entries must arrive by 10 a.m. in a crock pot at the Alba Community Center. There is no charge to enter.

From 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. patrons can sample the wares for $5.

The EDC will also be raising money with a $1,000 gift certificate to Big Shots Gunsmithing.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
