Mineola and Quitman ISDs have each reported someone testing positive for COVID-19.

Mineola reported a middle school staffer last Wednesday, Sept. 2.

The employee was last on campus Aug. 18.

Two school districts report cases

Mineola and Quitman ISDs have each reported someone testing positive for COVID-19.

Mineola reported a middle school staffer last Wednesday, Sept. 2.

The employee was last on campus Aug. 18.

One student was placed in quarantine after being determined to have had close contact.

Quitman reported an elementary school staff member as positive on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The staff member was last on campus Sept. 4.

The district is working with local health authorities to see if anyone had close contact who requires quarantine.

The most recent report from the Northeast Texas Health District on Friday, Sept. 4 shows 420 total cases of COVID-19 in Wood County with 59 active cases, 346 recoveries and 15 deaths. The district did not report on Monday.

Mineola has had 177 total cases, Winnsboro 70, Quitman 60, Alba 48, Yantis 29, Hawkins 27, Golden four, Holly Lake and Emory two each and Big Sandy one. Cases are reported by ZIP code.

The state reports 3,338 residents of the county have been tested.
