Variety of awards on tap at Quitman chamber banquet Jan. 18

The Quitman Chamber of Commerce has set their annual awards banquet for Thursday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. The event will be at Carroll Green Civic Center on McAllister Street.

Awards being presented will be Clergy of the Year, Beautification, Community Spirit, Citizen of the Year, Community Service, Small Business of the Year and Large Business of the Year.

East Texas Medical Center-Quitman will present Physician, Caregiver, and Volunteer of the Year. Quitman School District will award Elementary, Junior High and High School Educator of the Year honors. The Quitman Pilot club will give the Humanitarian award.

Flora Masonic Lodge, Quitman, plans to present their Mason’s Builder Award and Quitman Police Department will name the Police Officer of the Year.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the chamber office at Jim Hogg City Park or at Speakeasy Coffeehouse in downtown Quitman. Tables for 10 are available and tickets will also be at the door.

Chamber Executive Director Lauren Wilcox is looking forward to the banquet. “We are very excited about this year’s event. There will be door prizes, a silent auction and games,” Wilcox noted.

The menu includes hamburger steak and pork loin and will be catered by Red Dome Smokehouse in Quitman.
