Veterans Day parade set Nov. 14 in Mineola

The Marine Corps League Mineola Detachment, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts will host the annual Veterans Day parade in downtown Mineola on Saturday, Nov. 14.

The parade steps off from Broad and Graham Streets at 11:11 a.m., in tribute to the signing time of the Armistice that ended World War One on Nov. 11, 1918, which later became Veterans Day.

It will proceed west to the Broad St. Church of Christ and disperse.

This year’s theme is “Our Veterans Are Important.”

Area high school marching bands are planning to participate.

There will not be an announcer or a ceremony at the downtown gazebo this year, and the organizers will not be presenting awards for the best floats.

But they do want the community to know that the parade will proceed to honor the nation’s military veterans.
