Seniors Brenley Von Reyn and Justin Blalock were named Quitman Rotary’s Students of the Month for May.

Von Reyn is the Quitman FFA secretary and she’s received awards in public speaking and livestock judging, Lone Star degree and many chapter awards. She is also on the varsity girls’ golf team.

She participates in the Annual FFA Teacher Appreciation Turkey Fry, Back the Blue and Special Kids Farm and Ranch Day.

Von Reyn will attend West Texas A&M in Canyon to major in agricultural economics. After college, she wants to become an ag teacher and teach students about leadership and agriculture.

She is the daughter of Brad and Gena Von Reyn.

Blalock was the co-captain, offensive MVP and academic all-state for football in 2018. He placed seventh in regional powerlifting (275 pound weight class).

In UIL computer science, he placed second at district in 2016, first at district in 2017, first at district in 2018 and ninth place at regionals in 2019. He won a robotics academic award in 2018. He’s had perfect attendance all four years of high school.

Blalock plans to double major in computer science and electrical engineering in hopes of becoming either an embedded systems engineer designing electronics to help automate devices or a C++ software engineer designing low level software.

He is the son of John and Patricia Blalock.
