Weldon Noble Greer, 1929-2020

Weldon Noble Greer, 91, of Mineola passed away on July 17, 2020. Weldon was born on Feb. 22, 1929 in Mineola. He was a lifelong resident of Mineola and a knowledgeable historian of Wood County. He attended New Hope Baptist Church and Harvest Acres.

Weldon served his country in the US Army and worked as a machinist for Union Pacific for 40 years before retiring in 1992.

Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, Welcome and Mary Greer; wife, Mildred Nadine (Brown) Greer; and sisters, June Moss and Louise Perice.

Mr. Greer is survived by son, Roger Wiggins and wife Shirley; daughter, Martha Cornstubble and husband Gene; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 20 at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 21 at the New Hope Baptist Church, Bro. Fred Morrow officiating. Interment followed at the Greer Hill Family Cemetery.
