Services for William Paulden “Paul” Barnett, 81, of Alba were scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019, at Alba United Methodist Church with Reverends Dee Bryant, Bryan Brown and Danny Barrett officiating.
Private interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Mineola.

Mr. Barnett passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2019 in Tyler. He was born Friday, March 4, 1938 in Mineola to Jessie Thurman and Elsie Elizabeth Duncan Barnett.

Paul graduated from Boles Home and served his country in the US Army. He married Bobbie Joyce Allen Dec. 21, 1962, in Mineola. He was a telephone technician and retired from the telephone company after 26 years of service. He lived most of his life in Wood County and was a member of the Lake Country Antique Tractor Club. He served the Alba-Golden Federal Credit Union in many capacities, was mayor of Alba and was a member of the Alba Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Alba United Methodist Church.

Paul is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bobbie Barnett of Alba; one son, Jeffery Barnett and wife AnnMarie of Alba; two daughters, Shawnna Horton and husband Larry of Sulphur Springs and Lana Rhodes and Johnny Parker of Mineola; two brothers, Allan Barnett and wife Candy of Temple and Jessie Barnett of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary and Maxine, and brother, Davis.

Family visitation will be Monday, 6-8 p.m. at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home.
