Winnsboro duo second in state
Winnsboro seniors Jordan Stanford and Jannah Haney won second place at the Texas High School Bass Assoc. State Tournament last weekend at Cedar Creek Lake.
The team reeled in 29.02 pounds of bass. They broke the record for heaviest catch by a female fishing team. They were joined by their boat captain Terry Haley.
Second-place winnings include $5,000 each in scholarship funds, angler trophies, a captain’s plaque, Lew’s Custom Inshore Speed Spool reels and reel covers.
The following local teams also competed at state: Dawson Whitehurst and Evert Glas (Winnsboro), Jade Kruse and Paisley Pendergrass (Alba-Golden), Langdon Bautista and Colin “Layton” Brown (Quitman) and J.C. Brisendine and Andrew Lord (Quitman).
