The Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery Association is having homecoming services at the church this Sunday, May 24, at 10:30 a.m. The Texans will be performing and there will be "dinner on the grounds" after church. A business meeting will be held after lunch.
The Quitman Rotary Club is bringing Chick-fil-A "Lunch on the Square" Friday, May 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The lunch is an important fundraiser for the club's college scholarships fund. There is a $7 meal which is one original sandwich with a bag of chips and drink and an $11 meal which has two sandwiches, chips and drink.
Boy Scout Troop 36 is having a fish fry May 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Quitman Joy Hall. The cost is $10 per person and it includes dinner, drink and dessert.
Many families and individuals are without support and companionship due to family dynamics or lack of local family or friend. Just being present, volunteers are able to help eliminate loneliness, ease fears and give ones' last days meaning. Would you like to make a difference? The Wood County Democrat Club will be meeting Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m. at Governor Jim Hogg City Park. There will be a regular program and business meeting. Pizza, drinks, and dessert will be furnished. For more information call Chuck Denson at 903- 383-7036.
The Car Cruise will be May 28 at the Quitman DQ beginning at 6 p.m. Drive your classic car over or just come and enjoy the evening. Dale "The C" Cummings will be providing the entertainment. You might just drive home with the People's Choice Award.
