Wood County 4-H wins big at District Food Extravaganza

Wood County 4-H members recently won top honors in many of the contests at the recent District Food Extravaganza where they competed with 4-H’ers from the 22 county district in East Texas. The event was held at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches 

Team Awards were: first place Junior Food Challenge- “Homecooking Hippies” - Jackson Wallis, Raleigh Rhodes, Kasey Rhodes, Maggie Finley. fourth place Senior Food Challenge- “Spice Girls” --Hannah Vance, Kierney Wallis, Jenna Haney. fifth place Mixed Age Food Challenge- “Diamond Divas” --Emma Gilbreath, Payton Applegate, Brianna Irby.

Food Show Individual Awards are as follows: Kasey Rhodes-first Place Jr. Fruits/Vegetables, Raleigh Rhodes- second place Jr. Grains, Jackson Wallis -fourth place Jr. Dairy, Helena Bautista-Mathias- fourth place Intermediate Fruits/Vegetables, Kierney Wallis — second place Senior Dairy, Other Individuals in Food Show were Alexus Richey-Intermediate Protein and Jenna Haney-Senior Fruit/Vegetables.

Food/Nutrition Poster Contest awards are: Kasey Rhodes-First place Junior Poster, Raleigh Rhodes-third place Junior Poster, Hannah Bowles-third place Intermediate Poster, Kierney Wallis- second place Senior Poster, Jenna Haney - third place Senior Poster. Also competing in the Poster contest was Jackson Wallis.

Agriculture Product ID Contest awards were: first place Junior Team — Kasey Rhodes, Raleigh Rhodes, Jackson Wallas, Kasey Rhodes - first place Junior, Jackson Wallis - second place Junior, Kierney Wallis - second place Senior. Also competing in the AG/ID Contest were: Jenna Haney and Raleigh Rhodes
