Holly Brook Baptist plans support, studies and guest speaker
Griefshare to resume
Residents of Hawkins, Holly Lake Ranch, Brookhaven, and nearby communities are invited to GriefShare, a support group for those grieving the death of a loved one. The first meeting in the new series was March 6 at Holly Brook Baptist Church in the Parlor of the Family Life Center. It is not too late to join the group on Mondays at 2 p.m. Weekly meetings include a video seminar led by experts on grief and recovery, discussion, and personal reflections.
Man, freed of wrongful conviction, to speak
On Tuesday at 10 a.m., Saints Alive, the senior adult ministry of Holly Brook Baptist Church, will hear Michael Morton, a Texan who after 25 years in prison was exonerated of his wife’s murder. Morton was cleared in 2011 through DNA evidence not presented during his trial. The Innocence Project helped obtain his release and overturn his conviction.
His message is one of grace and forgiveness. The church will provide a baked potato for lunch, and attendees are asked to bring a dessert to share.
“Sound Doctrine, Sound Living” theme of Bible study
The men’s Bible study of Holly Brook Baptist Church will focus on the New Testament book of Titus. Theme of the study is “Sound Doctrine, Sound Living.” Men of the community are invited. The study takes place in the Family Life Center, room D101-3, on Tuesdays from 8:15 to 9 a.m.
