The Wood County Sheriff’s Department activities for the past two weeks have included:

Sept. 5 – Deputies were dispatched to Loop 564 Mineola on a theft. Someone stole a pressure washer trailer from the victim’s property. The case was forwarded to investigators.

A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle on County Road 4631 near Winnsboro.

A property owner on CR 4560 near Winnsboro reported someone stole items from his property. The case sent to investigators.

Deputies answered a welfare check call on Hwy 69 near Alba but couldn’t locate the person.

A person on CR 2122 near Quitman reported someone they knew stole an air compressor out of their pickup.

Deputies answered a welfare check call on CR 1975 near Yantis. The person was located and was OK.

A person on CR 4560 near Winnsboro reported someone stole a firearm from his vehicle.

Sept. 4 – Deputies arrested David Martinez, 26, Quitman for resisting arrest search or transport on CR 1410 near Quitman at 12:09 a.m. after receiving a disturbance call.

A person on CR 4470 near Winnsboro reported an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Someone they knew took the vehicle without consent. The case was sent to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4192 near Quitman on a welfare check. They checked and everything was OK.

A property owner on FM 2869 near Winnsboro reported someone stole several items.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1807 near Yantis around 10:55 p.m. on a disturbance. The people were separated for the night.

Deputies arrested Shane Ambort, 44, Hawkins for assault causing bodily injury/ family violence after being dispatched to Holly Trail near Hawkins.

Sept. 3 – Deputies went to serve a warrant on CR 2263 near Mineola about 8:24 a.m. and at 9:54 a.m. they tried to serve another one on Blair Street near Mineola. They were unable to contact either individual.

At approximately 6:19 p.m. deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Farm to Market 778 near Quitman. The vehicle was located and everything is OK.

Deputies were dispatched to Lake Holbrook on a disturbance. The parties were separated for the night.

Sept. 2 – Deputies were dispatched to FM 1799 near Mineola around 11:14 p.m. on a disturbance. Parties were separated before they arrived.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2088 near Quitman around 11:45 on a report of suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the activity and everything was cleared.

Sept. 1 –Deputies made a welfare check on CR 2754 at 10:48 a.m. near Mineola and the person was located and everything was OK, and at 11:32 they made a welfare check on FM 1795 near Hawkins. The person was OK.

At 11:32 a.m. deputies were dispatched to Hwy 154 near Quitman on a disturbance. The people involved were separated and the scene cleared.

Deputies attempted to serve a warrant on CR 2460 near Mineola at around 3:23 p.m., but were unable to find the person; at 3:48 p.m. they also were unable to locate a person on McWhorter Street in Mineola and at 4:06 p.m. they were unable serve a warrant on a person on Pegues Street near Mineola as well.

Deputies arrested Danny McCormack, 44, Alba, for assault by contact on FM 779 near Alba around 11:50 p.m.

At approximately 11:57 p.m. deputies located and confiscated narcotics from a vehicle involved in a traffic stop on Hwy 80 near Hawkins. Jerome Stevenson, 22, Big Sandy, was arrested for manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance.

Aug. 31 – Craig Garrett, 42, Mineola, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury family violence and interference with emergency request for assistance on CR 2435 near Mineola around 2:09 a.m..

Deputies were dispatched to Quitman Emergency Room about 3:10 a.m. on an inquest. A female, 72, passed away. The Justice of the Peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.

Deputies tried to serve a warrant on Main Street near Winnsboro about 11:29 a.m. They searched the area but were unable to make contact with the person.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3814 near Hawkins around 8:15 p.m. on a disturbance but the people separated before deputies arrived.

A reckless driving report was called in on CR 2332 near Mineola around 9:55 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and a citation was issued.

A property owner on CR 1970 near Yantis reported someone removing metal siding from the exterior portion of a building.

Aug. 30 – Deputies spoke with a victim of a dog bite that occurred on CR 3495 near Hawkins. The owner was advised of the quarantine protocol.

A property owner CR 3802 near Hawkins someone stole several items.

A victim reported to deputies that a person they knew stole items from his residence.

Deputies issued a criminal trespass warning on CR 2298.

Deputies spoke with a victim on Hwy 37 near Winnsboro who reported a theft of a bench from their property.

A property owner on FM 312 near Winnsboro reported someone damaged their fence.

Deputies were dispatched to Hwy 154 near Yantis in reference to a disturbance. The people were separated before deputies arrived.

Deputies spoke with a person in reference to debit/credit card abuse on Hwy 80 near Mineola. The case was forwarded to investigators.

Deputies made a welfare check on CR 1556 near Alba around 11:17 p.m. The person was located and everything was OK.

Aug. 29 - Deputies were dispatched to Highway 154 near Quitman at 7:41 p.m. on a disturbance. They issued a criminal trespass warning and the scene was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1688 near Alba at 4:17 p.m. on an assault and the case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2660 near Mineola at 11:46 p.m. on a violation of a protective order. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Aug. 28 – The theft of cattle from CR 2745 near Mineola was reported and has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies located a reported suspicious vehicle on CR 2311 near Mineola at 11:02 a.m. and found that everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2122 near Quitman at 12:05 p.m. on an assault and this case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to Holly Hill Circle near Hawkins at 5:44 p.m. on a disturbance and the people involved were separated for the night.

Deputies were dispatched to Blue Water Lane near Hawkins at 6:25 p.m. on a disturbance and separated the people involved for the night.

Aug. 27 - Deputies were dispatched to three welfare checks on the same day. Everything was found to be okay at the locations. The checks were on Farm-to-Market 1804 near Mineola, CR 1960 near Yantis and on CR 2435 near Mineola.

At vehicle owner reported an unauthorized use of a vehicle on CR 2290 near Mineola which has been forwarded to investigators.

Aug. 26 - Deputies were dispatched to FM 779 near Alba at 2:05 a.m. on a report of shots fired. They located the people with firearms and found everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2326 near Mineola where an 85-year-old woman was found deceased in her residence. The justice of the peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.

Deputies were dispatched to Highway 37 near Quitman where thieves pried open a shop door and stole several items. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Quitman where an 88-year-old man was found deceased in his home. The justice of the peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered. This case has been forwarded to investigators. The Monitor has requested further information about why this has been forwarded to investigators but was told that is not available because it is with investigators. Messages have been left requesting further information from the sheriff but those calls have not been returned.

Deputies were dispatched at 10:10 p.m. on an assault on CR 3473 near Hawkins. They found the suspect on FM 2869 near Hawkins and arrested Noah Larson, 18, Longview, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Aug. 25 - Deputies were dispatched to PR 5675 near Alba at 8:32 a.m. on a disturbance.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4420 near Winnsboro where thieves damaged a person’s property and stole several tools.

Deputies went to FM 852 near Winnsboro at 11:37 a.m. to check on the welfare of a person who they found was okay.

Deputies were dispatched to Highway 37 near Quitman at 11:58 a.m. on a theft and arrested Misty Crawford, 40, of Quitman, for theft of service.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 1254 near Mineola where a known person damaged a window at the reporting party’s residence.

Aug. 24 - Deputies were dispatched to CR 3978 near Winnsboro at 5:27 a.m. on a report of suspicious circumstances. They located the vehicle and arrested Joshua Rollins, 26, Longview, for possession of a controlled substance, manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, and violation of probation / burglary.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4560 near Winnsboro at 8:08 a.m. on a violation of a protective order but couldn’t find the offender.

Deputies were dispatched to Red Leaf Lane near Hawkins where thieves stole several items from a storage building.

Deputies were dispatched to Highway 80 near Mineola where thieves stole copper wire from the property.

Deputies spoke with someone who reported that on Highway 80 near Mineola thieves stole several items from the property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to Spur 514 near Yantis at 6:20 p.m. on a a disturbance. Those involved were separated for the night.

Aug. 23 - Deputies served an arrest warrant at Holiday Village Drive near Quitman and arrested Melanie Wilson, 43, of Quitman for violation of bond conditions.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3689 near Hawkins at 3:03 p.m. on a report of an assault and the case has been forwarded to investigators.
