Wood County Sheriff’s Report

(The following reports from three and four weeks ago were provided to the Wood County Monitor Thursday, Jan. 18 by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department after they were requested by the newspaper using the Texas Public Information Act.)

Between Dec. 27 and Jan. 9, Wood County Sheriff’s Department investigators filed eight cases with the district attorney, obtained six arrest warrants and arrested the people, and recovered $1,600 worth of stolen property. The department also received five reports of damaged mailboxes between Dec. 27 and 31 on County Roads 2724, 2247 and Farm-to-Market 1804 near Mineola and on CRs 3743 and 3250 near Quitman.

Jan. 9 - Deputies were dispatched to CR 2436 near Mineola at 7:57 a.m. on an inquest. A male, 79, of Mineola, was found deceased in his residence. The justice of the peace was notified and no autopsy was ordered.

Deputies arrested Bryan Barnett, 36, of Hawkins on Bermuda Street in Quitman at 2:14 p.m. on a warrant.

Deputies issued a criminal trespass warning after responding to a disturbance at Holiday Village Club House. Deputies were dispatched to CR 2268 near Mineola at 9:36 p.m. on a disturbance. Those involved were separated for the night.

Jan. 8 – A person reported harassment that occurred on CR 2153 near Quitman. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

A burglary was reported on FM 69 near Quitman. The thief damaged property and stole money from the residence.

Jan. 7 - Deputies assisted the Hawkins Police Department on Blackburn St. in Hawkins at 12:45 a.m. with a disturbance. Brandon Harpole, 24, of Big Sandy, was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 17 near Alba at 6:08 a.m. and arrested Donald Bean, 35, of Mineola, on a warrant.

Deputies arrested Bart Eason, 58, of Hawkins, on a warrant for possession of marijuana on CR 2696.

Deputies arrested Dylan Himes, 20, Hawkins, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault causing bodily injury family violence after being dispatched to Private Road 7687 near Hawkins on a disturbance.

Jan. 6 - Deputies were dispatched to CR 2377 near Mineola at 5:46 a.m. on an alarm. Deputies noticed a door to be ajar, but no signs of entry or theft.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 5935 near Yantis at 8:43 a.m. on shots fired. At 10 p.m. they were also dispatched to CR 3810 near Hawkins on shots fired but were unable to locate anyone at either location.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2225 near Quitman at 2:14 p.m. on a theft. Someone stole a laptop from the reporting party’s office.

Deputies were dispatched to Coke Road in Winnsboro at 8:48 p.m. on an inquest. A male, 78, died in the Winnsboro Emergency Room. The justice of the peace was notified and no autopsy was ordered.

Deputies arrested Ashley Shipman, 27, of Mineola, on assault on CR 2263 near Mineola after responding to a disturbance.

Jan. 5 - Deputies arrested Rolland Souter, 57, of Yantis, for assault by contact on CR 1750 near Yantis.

There was a report of a firearm being stolen from Waterfront Row near Quitman. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Jan. 4 -Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins at 12:15 p.m. on an inquest. A female, 63, was found deceased in her residence. The justice of the peace arrived and ordered an autopsy. This case has been forwarded to other agency.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2435 near Mineola at 2:49 p.m. on an assault. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba at 4:57 p.m. on an assault. This case has been forwarded o other agency.

Jan. 3 - Deputies arrested Billie Roberson, 40, of Hawkins, for driving while license invalid after a traffic stop on Highway 154 at FM 2225 near Quitman.

A person on CR 3879 near Mineola reported their wallet was stolen.

Deputies arrested Michelle Chase, 31, of Hawkins, for driving while intoxicated after responding to a reckless driver call on Highway 154 Yantis.

Deputies arrested John Payne, 47, of Quitman, for assault causing bodily injury after being dispatched to White Dove near Quitman at 11:51 p.m. on an assault.

Jan. 2 - Deputies arrested Salvador Sanchez, 41, of Winnsboro, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after they were dispatched to Highway 11 near Winnsboro at 1:33 a.m. on a disturbance.

A property owner on Seminole near Quitman reported someone stole a firearm from their property.

Jan. 1 - Deputies were dispatched to FM 2225 near Yantis at 10:46 a.m. on an inquest. A male, 73, was found deceased in his residence. The justice of the peace arrived and ordered an autopsy.

A resident of Highway 37 near Mineola reported someone stole several items from their property.

Dec. 31 – A resident of PR 5935 near Yantis reported someone stole several items from their property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

A resident of FM 515 near Yantis reported several items were stolen from their vehicle. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to Highway 69 near Alba at 9:20 p.m. on an assault. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Dec. 30 – There was a report that copper wire was stolen from CR 4287 near Winnsboro. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3870 near Hawkins at 8:43 p.m. on a dispute. Those involved were separated for the night.

Dec. 29 - Deputies were dispatched to CR 2922 near Mineola at 12:06 a.m. on a dispute. Those involved were separated for the night.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4660 near Winnsboro at 8:56 a.m. on an inquest. A male, 60, was found deceased in his residence. The justice of the peace arrived and an autopsy was ordered.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3340 near Hawkins at 5:33 p.m., on a dispute. Deputies located the parties involved in the dispute and cleared the scene.

Deputies issued criminal trespass warnings on CR 4560 near Winnsboro after responding to a disturbance.

Dec. 28 - Deputies were dispatched to CR 4420 near Winnsboro at 1:09 a.m. on a structure fire. Perryville Fire Department extinguished the fire. This case has been forwarded to another agency.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 312 near Winnsboro at 8:01 a.m., on an inquest. A female, 84, was found deceased in her residence. The justice of the peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.

Dec. 27 - Deputies were dispatched to FM 1804 near Mineola at 12:38 p.m. on a report of criminal mischief. Someone forced entry and damaged a residence.

Deputies took a theft report on CR 4471 near Winnsboro. This case is active.
