On April 29, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to FM 852 near Winnsboro at 8 a.m., on a report of a welfare check. When they got there, the person fired a gun multiple times in the general direction of the deputies.

Officers arrested Johnny Michael, 38, Winnsboro, for aggravated assault against a public servant.

Other Wood County Sheriff’s Department activities for April 25-May 1 were as follows:

May 1 – The owner of property on Farm-to-Market 1795 near Hawkins reported at 8:41 a.m. that thieves stole several items from the property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

The owner of property on FM 2869 near Hawkins reported at 9:27 a.m. that someone damaged their property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party on a report of an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Choctaw near Quitman. It was determined to be a civil matter.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Yantis at 12:25 p.m. on a report of an open door. They checked the building, didn’t find anyone and secured the structure.

The owner of property on CR 2267 near Mineola reported a criminal mischief but later reported a family member accidentally damaged the property .

A Winnsboro area resident reported identity theft and deputies gave the person advice.

Deputies served a warrant on County Road 1689 near Alba at approximately 5:55 p.m. arresting Kely Vazquez, 24, of Alba, on warrants.

April 29 - Deputies were dispatched to CR 3459 near Hawkins at 9:48 a.m. on an inquest. A 70-year-old woman was found deceased in her residence. The justice of the peace was notified and no autopsy was ordered.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba at 10:27 a.m., on a report of an assault and spoke with the people involved.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 2935 near Alba; at approximately 4:50 p.m. Deputies

Deputies responded to a report of a suicidal person on FM 49 near Mineola at approximately 5:14 p.m. and arrested Clayton Rhodes, 21, Mineola, for resisting arrest.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1670 near Alba at 6:36 p.m. on a disturbance and arrested Adam Morrow, 34, of Alba, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury family violence.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1563 near Alba at 7:52 p.m. where they issued criminal trespass warnings.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2165 near Quitman at 8:35 p.m., on a report of an assault and spoke with all parties involved.

April 30 -Deputies were dispatched to CR 4895 near Winnsboro at 1:21 a.m. on a disturbance and arrested Georgette Bowen, 57, Winnsboro, for aggravated assault of a date with a weapon.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 7908 near Hawkins on a disturbance and talked with everyone involved.

Deputies were dispatched to Cheyenne near Quitman at 4:15 p.m. on an inquest where a 53-year-old man was found deceased in his residence. The justice of the peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.

The owner of property on CR 2260 near Mineola reported a theft. This case is active.

April 28- Deputies spoke with a person at 12:23 a.m. about a mischief that occurred on Highway 80 near Mineola and gave them advice.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3190 near Winnsboro at 1:33 a.m., on a report of a welfare check and arrested Patrick Monnat, 31, Quitman, for driving while intoxicated.

At 8:51 a.m. a person reported their son’s wallet was stolen at the baseball fields in Yantis.

A criminal mischief was reported on CR 2260 near Mineola at 12:34 p.m. and deputies issued a criminal trespass warning.

A person near Mineola reported at 2:10 p.m. a terroristic threat that occurred on FM 779 near Mineola. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

The owner of property on CR 1615 near Alba reported a person they knew damaged their property. Deputies told the person it was a civil matter.

The owner of property on CR 2260 near Mineola reported at 7:12 p.m. someone cut a lock and stole several items from their building. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 10:23 p.m. there was a report of shots being fired on CR 3450 near Hawkins but deputies were unable to locate any activity.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 779 near Alba at 11:13 p.m. on a a noise complaint and advised the people to turn their music down.

April 27 – Deputies served a warrant on Bermuda St. in Quitman at approximately 9:20 a.m. and arrested Clinton Dickerson, 30, Lindale, on a warrant.

A person on CR 2298 near Mineola reported harassment.

A dog bite was reported at 1:33 p.m. that occurred on PR 7952 near Mineola. The owner of the dog was advised of the quarantine protocol.

Deputies went to to CR 1534 near Alba and issued a criminal trespass warning.

At 4:31 p.m. a resident of CR 2155 near Quitman reported someone stole a package off their porch.

A person reported at 6:12 p.m. their vehicle on Highway 80 near Hawkins was damaged. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies issued a criminal trespass warning on CR 1681 near Alba.

April 26 - At 12:09 a.m. a person on Highway 154 near Quitman reported a terroristic threat had been made. Deputies gave the reporting party advice.

At 12:44 a.m. a person on PR 7850 near Hawkins reported harassment and deputies gave them advice. Deputies issued a criminal trespass warning on CR 3540 near Hawkins at 8:17 a.m. after receiving a report of a dispute.

Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning on Sells Street in Yantis.

A person on CR 3138 near Quitman reported at 9:51 a.m. they had paid a known person to do work for them, but the person did not do work. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

A person on on CR 1585 near Alba reported a scam and deputies gave them advice.

A person on CR 2958 near Alba reported a terroristic threat and deputies gave them advice.

April 25 - Deputies stopped a vehicle on CR 4750 near Winnsboro at 12:04 a.m. arresting Jacob Clinton, 42, was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon and Darrell King, 42, both of Winnsboro, was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Yantis at 7:30 a.m. on an inquest where an 83-year-old man was found deceased in his residence. The justice of the peace was notified and no autopsy was ordered.

A harassment was reported CR 2920 near Alba. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

A suspicious vehicle was reported on CR 4583 near Winnsboro at approximately 4:23 p.m. and deputies said extra patrol would be provided.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3803 near Hawkins on a disturbance. They spoke with everyone involved.
