Wood County Sheriff’s Report

June 30

Deputy Brad Cox was dispatched to CR 4930 for a disturbance. A woman stated she was assaulted by her boyfriend. Since the assault happened earlier in the day, the case will be forwarded to the Criminal  Investigation Division (CID).

Deputy McKenzie Chandler was informed of a juvenile who had run away. The reporting person stated he went to go run errands, and when he returned, the juvenile was gone. A report was taken and the juvenile was entered as a runaway. Later in the day, Chandler responded to Lake Holbrook and located the juvenile. He was returned to his parents.

Deputy Linda Williams responded to the sheriff’s office lobby where she took a theft report. The reporting party stated he went to a restaurant on FM 2869 and requested change for a $100 bill. He stated he was given the change, but as he was walking out to his car, the waitress followed him out and snatched all the money out of his hands. She told him the hundred he gave her was counterfeit. A theft report was forwarded to CID.

July 1

Deputy Michael Allison made contact with a complainant by phone. The individual stated his child’s mother has been harassing him. Allison advised the individual to tell the woman to stop all contact with him. The case will be closed unless further contact is made.

Sgt. Jeremy Ragsdale requested the assistance of Deputy Cole Hudson regarding an individual asleep in a vehicle on CR 2205. The vehicle was impeding the roadway. Deputies made contact with the subject, who was intoxicated. Daran Shane Putnam, 32, of Gilmer, was arrested for public intoxication.

July 2

Deputy Andrew Rapp was given a phone report in regard to a dog bite on CR 2590. The reporting party stated he drives a delivery truck and had stopped to make a delivery when a dog at the residence bit him on the hand. When Rapp made contact with the dog owner, the dog displayed aggressive behavior. The owner stated she didn’t know why he was acting this way but was able to provide documentation for vaccinations. The dog was ordered quarantined for 10 days.

Sgt. Austin Milbourn attempted a traffic stop on Hwy. 69.  After initiating lights and siren, the driver refused to stop. After several miles, the vehicle finally pulled over to the shoulder. Joe Kenneth Musselwhite, 64, of Mineola was arrested for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.

Deputy Rapp was dispatched to CR 2940 for a disturbance. Rapp spoke with a juvenile victim and her parents. The victim stated she was walking home when a vehicle came up behind her. The juvenile female driver of the vehicle swerved toward her, attempting to strike her with the vehicle. As the driver drove by, she honked and flipped her off. The victim was able to show Rapp where the vehicle left the roadway and attempted to strike her. There was a witness who was able to verify the story. The parents of the victim did not wish to press charges but did want the incident documented for future reference.

Deputy Andrew Morrison responded to CR 3440 for an inquest. The on-call justice of the peace was contacted and funeral home took possession of the decedent.

Sgt. Billy Hill and Chief Deputy Nikki Wright were on patrol on Lake Holbrook when they observed a disturbance in progress. After investigation, Jeffrey Lee Pope, 36, of Farmers Branch, was arrested for public intoxication.

July 3

Deputy Bonnie Sepulvado, Deputy Hudson and Deputy Delton Graves were on patrol at Lake Hawkins when they observed two individuals acting suspiciously. They were walking around, appearing to be disoriented and lost. Deputies made contact and saw marijuana and a marijuana pipe in plain sight.  Because of the marijuana being in plain sight, the deputies advised they would be conducting a probable cause search of the vehicle. When they were told there would be a search, the driver of the vehicle attempted to bury the car keys on the beach. During the search of the vehicle, THC oil, a THC pen and a THC dab pen, THC wax, more marijuana and methamphetamines were located. Sarah Nicole Davis, 31, of Lindale was arrested for false report to police officer and possession of a controlled substance PG 1 less than one gram. Cody Wayne Darden, 42, of Lindale was arrested for possession of a controlled substance  PG 2 less than one gram, possession of marijuana two ounces or less, possession of a controlled substance PG 2 more than four grams but less than 400 grams, possession of a controlled substance PG 1 less than one gram and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputy Chandler was on patrol at Lake Holbrook when he made a traffic stop. The driver was making movements that appeared to be attempting to conceal something. Chandler made contact with the driver and passenger and they were asked to exit the vehicle. The driver was asked what she was attempting to hide. She stated she was trying to hide marijuana. Because the driver admitted to attempting to hide the marijuana, a probable cause search was conducted. The small amount of marijuana she reported was located. Chandler also located methamphetamine in the driver’s purse, along with a firearm in the back seat area. Krystal Lee Wilson, 35, of Greenville was arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG 1 less than one gram and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Deputy John Cooper responded to PR 8695 for an inquest. The on-call justice of the peace was contacted and funeral home took possession of the decedent.

July 4

Deputy Jim Rapp was dispatched to CR 4592 for an inquest. The on-call justice of the peace was notified.

Deputy Dustin Green took an assault report from an individual stating when she dropped off her ex-boyfriend at his house, she was assaulted by his mother. She also told Green that her father went to the location to speak with them, and the ex-boyfriends father came to the door with a gun and fired a shot into the ground. Green spoke with the ex-boyfriend’s father, who stated he did observe his wife strike the victim twice. He also said when the victim’s father came to the residence, he did have a gun and fired a round into the ground. The case was forwarded to CID.

Deputy Cooper was dispatched to CR 4918 for a terroristic threat. The reporting party stated an individual was causing problems in the area for several days. The reporting party saw the man on his property and told him he wasn’t supposed to be there, the man responded by threatening him, taking an aggressive stance and then advancing toward the reporting party. The individual was not found in the area at the time of the report. The case will be forwarded to CID.

July 5

Sgt. Heather Bailey went to CR 1410 for an inquest. The on-call justice of the peace was notified and funeral home took possession of the decedent.

Deputy Williams responded to FM 312 for a welfare concern. The reporting party stated his son is in a residence where there is possibly drug use. Williams went to the location and spoke with the child, the child’s mother and the child’s grandmother. It was Williams’s opinion that the child did not seem to be in any type of duress or in danger. The reporting party was notified.

Deputy Williams met with a reporting party in the lobby of the sheriff’s office. The individual stated he received a message on messenger with a scam. He sent some information to the person, but then realized it was probably a scam. A report was filed.

Sgt. Austin Milbourn and Deputy Jonah Croney were dispatched to CR 2263 in reference to a fire. The complex was evacuated. The fire marshal, Sgt. Hill and Lt. Robert Holland were contacted and arrived on scene. The fire is still currently being investigated by the fire marshal’s office.

July 6

Deputy Corbin Hanner responded to CR 4597 for a report of possible stolen property. The reporting party stated he received a firearm from a relative, and he thinks it is possibly stolen. The firearm was run through the state system, and it was confirmed stolen. It was logged into evidence.

Deputy Hudson was sent to a vehicle fire on CR 3540. The fire marshal was contacted and will be handling the investigation.

Deputy Chandler was dispatched to CR 1660 for an incident involving a shot dog. The reporting party stated she shot a dog that was after her chickens. Chandler spoke with the owner of the dog, who believed the dog was shot on his property. The case will be further investigated by CID.

Deputy Hanner responded to a burglary of a coin operated machine on FM 17. He found the machine had been broken into. The case was forwarded to CID.

Deputy Brad Cox was dispatched to CR 1112 for a verbal disturbance. He made contact with the reporting party, who stated his daughter was visiting from out of state. She was drunk and began assaulting him and his wife. After speaking with all parties involved, April Deanne Bridger, 47, of Allentown, Penn. was arrested for assault by contact.

Deputy Cox responded to CR 3236 for a theft report. He met with the reporting party who stated she cashed a check last week and put the money in her purse. When she went back to get the money, she found it to be gone. She was able to give a suspect in the theft. The case will be forwarded to CID.

Deputy Andrew Morrison took a dog bite call on FM 515. The victim stated she was bitten by her neighbor’s dog. The owner of the dog stated she didn’t know if the dog was up to date on its shots. The dog is to be quarantined for 10 days and then cleared by a veterinarian. A citation was issued to the dog owner for fail to vaccinate dog – rabies.
