May 11

Deputy Gould, criminal mischief, County Road 4200; ex-girlfriend stole firearm, broken window; no serial number for firearm, wished to pursue charges, case forwarded to investigations.

Deputy Rapp, protection order violation, County Road 3269; suspect coming over to property, breaking conditions of protection order, no video of suspect on property, would like to pursue charges, case forwarded to investigations.

Deputy Hughes, warrant service, County Road 4139; observed wanted subject inside vehicle leaving residence. Sterlin Farley, 30, Quitman arrested on outstanding warrant.

Deputy Cooper, warrant service, County Road 3955. Nicholas Kilduff, 27, Hawkins; Anthony Hudson, 40, Hawkins arrested for outstanding warrants.

Deputy Croney, animal complaint, County Road 2142; horse owner advised unable to afford feed but usually takes care of animal, walks horse to get water every day. Croney took photos of horse, will forward case for further investigation. 

May 12

Deputy Cooper, suspicious person, Mineola; convenience store clerk working advised Cooper of person acting strange outside. Suspect showed signs of intoxication, admitted using narcotics, showing signs of intoxication, advised will be driving home, placed the suspect in custody. Stephan Vanscoy, 37, Quitman arrested for public intoxication.

Deputy Morrison, warrant service, FM 49. Robert Farrell, 56, Mineola arrested on outstanding warrant.

Deputy Hughes, traffic stop, Mineola; vehicle failed to stop at intersection, observed baggie containing crystal substance in cupholder, performed search, located box with crystal-like substance and firearm. Passenger admitted items were hers. Cody Sowell, 28, Lindale arrested for possession of controlled substance. Peyton Becvar, 28, Quitman arrested for possession of controlled substance, unlawful carrying weapon.

May 13

Deputy Hughes, disturbance, FM 514; suspect advised victim had began drinking, playing loud music. After confronting victim, he began to cut her neck with his fingernails. Victim advised suspect tried to assault him and cut him with her fingernails. Lisa Sillivan, 52, Quitman arrested for assault. 

Sgt. Hanner, disturbance, County Road 4200; victim advised his ex-girlfriend showed up at residence, began to damage property, provided video that showed suspect tearing up property and confronting victim. Jerri Brassfield, 37, Winnsboro arrested for criminal mischief, assault family violence.

Deputy Cox, vehicle fire, County Road 3940; vehicle owner advised had worked on vehicle earlier in day, after arriving home, he went inside residence, heard noise outside, found vehicle on fire, attempted to put out. Fire marshal contacted.

Deputy Kovic, vehicle theft, County Road 3689; land owner advised selling vehicle, had people coming to look, next day it was missing. Owner provided VIN, entered as stolen.

Deputy Baldwin, fraud, Holly Lake Ranch; victim advised friend got credit card information, made fraudulent purchases, transactions listed, case forwarded to investigations.

May 14

Deputy Kovic, animal complaint, County Road 1670; neighbor had taken puppy, caller wanted it back. Successfully returned. 

Deputy Mayer, assault, County Road 3473; group swimming near victim assaulted him. One of victim’s friends got license plate, possible suspects. Victim will pursue charges once home from hospital. 

Deputy Kovic, criminal trespass, County Road 3220; homeowner advised male walking in backyard, left as she called Sheriff’s Office. Deputy located suspect, advised was trying to walk to his residence. Homeowner wants person criminally trespassed from property.

Deputy Baldwin, disturbance, Lake Holbrook; male burning out in vehicle, asked to stop, suspect trying to fight, cause issues. Baldwin gave suspect opportunity to be picked up due to intoxication, advised was going to walk to family member’s house. Ronnie Douthit, 21, Mineola arrested for public intoxication.

Deputy Williams, theft, Main St., Yantis; store employee advised female confronted about item in hand, fled store, left in vehicle. Store owner would like to press charges, criminally trespass suspect. Suspect criminally trespassed, given citation for theft under $100.

May 15

Deputy Gould, shots fired, Lake Winnsboro; trooper stopped vehicle involved. Deputy met with person bleeding on their calf, called for EMS. Witness stated two people in vehicle near campsite most of day pulled up later in evening, began firing. Witnesses stated multiple rounds of gunshots, called 911. Case forwarded to investigations.

Deputy Williams, suicidal subject, Hwy. 154. Person advised not suicidal, needed help, went voluntarily with EMS.

Deputy Williams, theft, FM 515; bush hog, other equipment taken, possibly has suspect. Case forwarded to investigations.

Sgt. Skinner, suspicious person, Hwy. 154; observed male subject walking in roadway, subject advised had been robbed in his vehicle. Skinner unable to locate vehicle, observed male not making sense, acting strange. Male admitting using alcohol, multiple narcotics, arrested. 

May 16

Sgt. Skinner, contact with individual, Jim Hogg Park; observed male subject leave bag, flee scene as he noticed Skinner. Male wanted by another agency, they would not confirm warrant, male released.

Deputy Cooper, traffic stop, Pacific St., Mineola; observed vehicle run red light, display possible fictitious license plate. Driver of motorcycle fled for 10 miles, threw baggies into roadway. Once motorcycle not drivable, driver fled on foot into pasture, later caught. Deputy located drug paraphernalia and residue and empty gun holster on suspect. Smith County officer located firearm where pursuit ended. Brent Vicknair, 30, Canton arrested for possession of controlled substance, violating bond conditions, warrant will be filed for unlawful possession of firearm.

Deputy Cooper, traffic stop, County Road 4662; observed vehicle swerve over median multiple times. Deputy observed driver showing signs of nervousness, he refused consent to search vehicle. While waiting on canine, deputy asked driver to remove items from pockets, removed smoking pipe. Deputy located syringe with substance in it. Benjamin Howard, 31, Quitman arrested for possession of controlled substance.

Deputy Morrison, theft, County Road 2351; caller advised camper stolen from residence while gone. Verified caller’s mother owned trailer, contacted, stated would like to report it stolen, gave VIN. Entered as stolen, case forwarded to investigations.

May 17

Deputy Cooper, traffic stop, Hwy. 37; observed vehicle license plate light out. Driver admitted narcotics inside. Kevin Williams, 48, Mineola arrested for possession of controlled substance.

Deputy Morrison, animal call, County Road 2600; two dogs became ill, one died, vet advised dogs may have been poisoned. Caller could not find anything poisonous, would call if anything found.

Deputy Croney, warrant service, Private Road 8937. Leslie Lambert, 37, Quitman arrested for outstanding warrant.

Deputy Cooper, traffic stop, Main St., Yantis; observed vehicle with wrong license plate. Driver admitted narcotics in vehicle. Deputy located syringe, liquid substance. Zoe Sigmon, 19, Yantis arrested for possession of controlled substance.
