Wood County Sheriff’s Report, May 29 - June 4

May 29

Deputies were dispatched at 7:23 a.m. to County Road 2110 on an animal complaint regarding a snake. The snake was relocated from the residence to the woods.

Deputies were dispatched to the Lake Holbrook beach area at 2:43 p.m. on a report of two people smoking marijuana. Deputies located them and requested permission to search the vehicle, which they received. When the vehicle door was opened a very strong odor of marijuana emanated from the truck cab. Deputies discovered a small white tube containing marijuana buds and Xanax bars. Justin Hillard-Kennedy, 31, of Mineola was arrested for alleged possession of drugs.

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 3990 in Hawkins at 5:14 p.m. on a domestic assault call. The reporting party claimed injuries from being hit in the face with a bottle. Due to conflicting witness statements the case was forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 4360 at 7:26 p.m. in regard to a tornado touching down. The citizen was referred to the Red Cross for additional assistance.

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2110 in Quitman at 7:46 p.m. in regard to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, deputies located a subject who had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him as he stood in the roadway. Joshua Ray Scott, 27, of Alba was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Wood County Jail. The homeowner declined to pursue any charges for burglary.

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2944 in Golden at 9:25 p.m. in reference to a domestic disturbance. A subject was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 69 off of Highway 37 at 9:51 p.m. to assist a motorist who had driven into high water. A towing company was contacted and TxDOT put up barricades on the road.

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2920 in Alba at 10:58 p.m. in regard to a disturbance in progress. One individual stated that she had been assaulted by two others. Due to conflicting statements, this case was forwarded to investigators.

May 30

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1416 near FM 2966 at 2:27 a.m. regarding a suspicious vehicle. Deputies located a car parked at the location with minor damage.

Deputies were dispatched to Private Road 6338 in Mineola at 3:32 a.m. regarding a dispute with shots fired. A family member violated a protective order by coming onto the property and shooting out a car window. When deputies arrived, the subject was no longer at the residence. However, at 5:18 a.m. dispatch was notified that the subject was at the hospital with an accidental gunshot wound to his foot. This case was forwarded to investigators.

Deputies received information regarding possible drug activity in the Holly Lake Ranch area. This information was forwarded to investigators.

Deputies received information at 11:28 a.m. that a possible sexual assault had occurred on County Road 3800 in Hawkins. A report was made to Child Protective Services and this case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a call on County Road 3144 in Quitman at 11:31 a.m. that an unknown bull was in reporting party’s yard. The bull was picked up and taken to Winnsboro Livestock because the owner could not be located.

Deputies were dispatched to Private Road 7948 in Winnsboro at 12:36 p.m. in regard to an animal complaint. The reporting party believes that a neighbor is using a Taser to discipline her dog. The deputy spoke with other witnesses who said they had not seen this occur. Deputies were unable to contact the dog owner.

Deputies were dispatched to Private Road 5675 in Alba at 3:33 p.m. on a reported terroristic threat. Deputies spoke to the parties involved and one of the parties agreed to leave for the night to prevent further disturbances.

Deputies were dispatched to Private Road 6673 in Mineola at 3:58 p.m. for shots fired. The deputy located bullet holes in the residence. After speaking with multiple neighbors, the deputy located by phone the shooter, who admitted to shooting in that direction during target practice. He did not realize that there was a residence in that direction and will find a safer location in the future.

Deputies were dispatched to Bent Bow Lane in Holly Lake Ranch at 4:06 p.m. regarding harassing phone calls and texts. The reporting party was advised to block the number.

Deputies were dispatched to Private Road 6645 in Mineola at 6:21 p.m. regarding a suspicious person knocking on the door to ask for a ride. The subject was located and advised not to return to the residence.

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 4760 in Winnsboro at 10:43 p.m. regarding a family disturbance. One of the family members was found to be in crisis and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

May 31

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2460/County Road 2465 at 12:14 p.m. in regard to found property. The reporting party had found a wallet without identification in the road along with a plastic sack containing drug paraphernalia. The items were placed in evidence.

Deputies received a phone call at 1:25 p.m. regarding property damage at a location on FM 17 in Yantis. The reporting party stated that he had been notified by neighbors that persons known to him had damaged his fence even after a criminal trespass warning. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to Highway 154 at FM 515 at 8:46 p.m. in reference to a reckless driver. The car was located, and Peter Joseph Petsche, 32, of Howe, Texas, was arrested for an out-of-county warrant.

Deputies were dispatched to 1799 at Holbrook Bridge at 10:51 p.m. in reference to a suspicious person walking into oncoming traffic. The subject was located and Monica Shafer, 23, of Grand Saline was arrested for an out-of-county warrant.

June 1

Deputies were dispatched to the boat ramp at Lake Holbrook at 5:20 p.m. in reference to a noise complaint. The deputies warned the subjects not to swim off the boat dock pier.

Deputies were dispatched to Lake Holbrook beach at 6:06 p.m. in reference to an alcohol violation. Deputies warned multiple beachgoers that alcohol is not allowed on the beach.

June 2

Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 in Quitman at 8:06 a.m. in reference to fraud. The reporting party stated that he had received four counterfeit $100 bills from a tenant paying rent. The case was forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 312 one mile north of E. Highway 154 at 8:39 a.m. in reference to a cow hit by a car. The owner was contacted and removed the cow.

Deputies contacted a reporting party by telephone at 11:27 a.m. in reference to a theft. The party reported that she had been missing some items from her home but had not reported them stolen until a neighbor contacted her with information as to who might be responsible. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 3420 in Hawkins at 4:01 p.m. in reference to a homeowner finding broken windows at her home. The deputies made entry for the homeowner and everything was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2920 in Golden at 7 p.m. on a disturbance. The reporting party stated that a pair of pliers was thrown at her, striking her in the leg and causing bruising. Due to conflicting statements and the fact that the reporting party had been involved in a physical altercation a few days prior, the parties were told that this case would be forwarded to investigations. One of the parties, Gerri Rachelle Butler, 44, of Golden, had an outstanding warrant for driving with an invalid license and was arrested.

Deputies were dispatched to the FM 515 bridge before FM 17 at 7:30 p.m. in reference to teens jumping off of the bridge. Deputies arrived and the subjects dispersed.

Deputies were dispatched to Greenbriar Cove in Holly Lake Ranch at 8:45 p.m. in reference to a family disturbance. Zoe Nicole Armock, 18, of Holly Lake Ranch was arrested for an alleged assault causing bodily injury to a family or household member by impeding breathing or circulation.

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2503 in Mineola at 10:47 p.m. in reference to criminal mischief. The reporting party stated that a person known to him had damaged the interior of his vehicle. The case was forwarded to investigators.

June 3

Deputies made contact by phone with a reporting party who stated that he had paid an individual known to him to build a boathouse at County Road 1445 in Quitman. The subject began but did not finish the job and admitted to the reporting party that he spent the money elsewhere. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies made contact by phone with a reporting party who stated that she had paid an individual to do mechanic work on her 18-wheeler. The subject took the money but did not perform the work. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 69N in Quitman at 12:54 p.m. regarding a terroristic threat. The reporting party stated that her ex-husband pulled up next to her vehicle and pointed a gun, threatening to kill her. Deputies were unable to locate the subject. This case was forwarded to investigations.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 515/CR 4990 at 2:07 p.m. in reference to assisting a motorist. Deputies located the vehicle which had been driven off of the roadway and called roadside assistance for the driver.

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1513 in Alba at 8:01 p.m. in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies issued a criminal trespass warning and cleared the incident.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 312 at 9:52 p.m. The subject was arrested for the outstanding warrant.

June 4

Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1515 in Alba at 7:33 a.m. in reference to a criminal trespass. The homeowners were advised to post some no trespassing signs on the property.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2659 in Hawkins at 11:15 a.m. in reference to actors unknown trying to kick in their door. Homeowners requested extra patrol in the area.

Deputies made contact by a reporting party who stated that she had paid an individual to cut down four trees on her property on County Road 2434 in Mineola. The subject took the money but cut down only three trees. This case has been forwarded to investigations.

Deputies were dispatched to U.S. 80 in Mineola at 2:55 p.m. in reference to theft of services. A reporting party stated that a customer picked up his truck that had been repaired without paying for the services. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to Highway 69 at 5:14 p.m. in reference to an animal complaint. The reporting party stated that as he was riding his bike a large dog came out onto the road and knocked him over, causing him to scrape his knee. The dog did not attack him, but he requested that a report be made.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to County Road 2482 in Mineola at 7:22 p.m. David William Wilson, 41, of Mineola was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Between May 29 to June 4, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Mineola Police Department, Hawkins Police Department, Quitman Police Department, Department of Public Safety, Child Protective Services and UT Medical Center Quitman.
