A Holly Lake area woman is a suspect in a pair of fires in the Enchanted Lake subdivision in Smith County just south of Mineola.

Suspect Amber Leigh McGehee had been in Wood County jail on charges of no driver’s license and not having a regulation safety seat for a child under eight. She was released from Wood County Friday and transferred to Smith County where she is under a $300,000 surety bond. The warrant for her arrest on the felony charge was issued by Judge Jack Skeen of the 241st District Court.

The fires occurred Dec. 20 in the 23000 block of Dogwood Trails. Two residences were found to be on fire when the Smith County fire marshal arrived. Both were determined to have been set intentionally, and an arson investigation is ongoing.

One of the homes was determined to be owned by McGehee’s mother.
