Yantis athletes honored with All-District basketball recognition

Yantis’ boys and girls basketball teams were well-represented with post season honors this year. The boys team won District 24-A for the second consecutive year and the team made it to the state quarter-finals while the girls team also made the playoffs.

Bradley Potts was named the District MVP for the second year in a row. Potts was also named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All Region Team. Dallas Scott earned the district’s Newcomer of the Year Award and Coach Mike McMinn won Coach of the Year.

Jayden Modrall, Tucker Hathcoat and J.C. Nolen were voted to First Team All-District. Will Graham was picked for Second Team All-District and Josh Moreland was named as an Honorable Mention. The Academic All District squad included Jeffrey Dalton, Carlos Lopez and Potts.

Lady Owl Montana Wetzel won the district’s Offensive Player of the Year Award while teammates Ashten Burnett and Maggie Hooker were First-Team players. Maddie Hooker made the Second-Team and Sydney Williams was noted as an Honorable Mention.

Wetzel, Burnett, Williams, Maggie Hooker, Maddie Hooker, Brooke Barrett and Makayla Pullen all made the Academic All-District team.
