Lake Country Republican Club to host candidate forum
The Lake Country Republican Club will host a candidate forum for candidates in the Republican primary runoff election that will be held Tuesday, May 27.
The forum will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Quitman Public Library. All candidates have been invited to attend or to send a representative to speak.
There are four offices involved in the Republican primary runoff. David Dewhurst and Dan Patrick are vying for the lieutenant governors nomination. Senator Patrick is sending a representative to the forum. Representative Dan Branch and Senator Ken Paxton are both candidates for the position of attorney general, and both candidates are sending representatives from their campaign.
Wayne Christian and Ryan Sitton are running for railroad commissioner. Christian is attempting to schedule a representative to attend. For the position of agriculture commissioner, the candidates are Tommy Merritt and Sid Miller. Miller will be in attendance at the forum.
All voters are welcome to go to hear these speakers. "Hearing from these candidates and-or their representatives will enable us to make a more informed choice when voting in the runoff election. There will be time for each speaker to talk about the race, and also time for questions from the audience," said a club spokesperson.
