The Mineola Yellowjackets defeated Sunnyvale 56-33 on Thursday, Nov. 27.
The ‘Jackets long-range shooting provided 21 points as they hit 7 – 22 in the game. Mineola was able to put up 56 field goal attempts and hit on 20 for a 36 percent clip. The free throw shooting left a little to be desired as they hit at a 50 percent rate, going 9-18.
The Jackets got off to a 22-18 early advantage, and then took control at 54-29 before finishing off the Raiders. Several ‘Jacket players are just getting their “basketball legs” after advancing to the bi-district round in football. Mineola had a great team effort, getting 13 points from the bench.
Leading Mineola was Jonah Fisher with 13 points, nine from three-point range. Kadavian George had 11 points; Shaw Franklin, nine; Kelby Bruner eight; Trey Sneed, seven; Dede Sneed and Conner Dobbs, three; and with two points, Devente Stevens. Dede Sneed and George each hit double figures in rebounds with 10 apiece.
