Alba council OKs easement for coffee shop
Alba City Council approved an easement last week for The Mining Post, a new coffee shop on the downtown square.
The business is constructing a wooden deck in front of the sidewalk that is on the city’s street right-of-way. It is on the same level as the sidewalk. more

Volunteer firemen hosting benefit fish fry

Early voting underway in party primaries
Early voting in the spring party primaries began Monday in the Wood County elections office in Quitman.
The office has recorded 304 in-person early votes and another 221 votes by mail for the first day. more

AGISD $17 million plan features classrooms and gym
By unanimous vote, the Alba-Golden School Board called a bond election for $16 million at Monday’s board meeting. The measure will be voted on at the May 7 election.

$29.85 million for MISD includes new primary
The Mineola School Board voted unanimously last Thursday night to ask the district’s voters to approve a bond issue for $29,855,000 to build a new school and create a career and technology center.
The election will be held on Saturday, May 7 in conjunction with school board and city council elections. more
