Jackets hustle past Van
The Mineola Yellowjackets used quickness and hustle to defeat the Van Vandals 59-45 in Van Zandt County last Tuesday. The Jackets bested a well-trained Vandals squad through aggressive defense and by out-competing the Vandals on the boards.

Yellowjackets pull away in opener
Getting started on the right foot can help make a lay-up and cannot hurt a basketball season. The Mineola Yellowjackets began their hardcourt campaign at home last Tuesday, leaping past the visiting Lone Oak Buffaloes and landing a 66-50 victory with both feet.

Van edges Lady Jackets in Wills Point tournament
The Mineola Lady Jackets traveled to Wills Point and participated in their tourney this past weekend. They fell to a strong Van side 51-36, in a game which was much closer than the final score indicated.

Lady Jackets defeat state-ranked Commerce
The Mineola Lady Jackets put a gem of a performance together last Tuesday as they bested the fourth-ranked 3A team in the state – the Lady Tigers of Commerce – 58-49, in front of a home Mineola crowd. The Lady Jackets were prepared, used sound tactics and simply wanted the ball more than the favored Lady Tigers.
