Family and friends celebrated at the graduation of 50 seniors from Alba-Golden High School last Thursday in Wagstaff Gymnasium at Tyler Junior College.

As the group of seniors transitioned into mature members of the community, they were applauded for their accomplishments and challenged by their peers.

After high school principal Brittany Hall recounted just some of the many accomplishments which were led by this group of seniors, Superintendent Shelby Davidson took the podium to thank the parents and grandparents. An estimated 800 guests crowded into the gymnasium for the ceremony.

Before recounting his lessons for life, Davidson shared his perspective on Alba-Golden Schools. “Alba-Golden is the center of our universe,” he stated, “and everyone must remember that no place is small when you do things in a big way!”

Following presentation of gifts to principal Hall and assistant principal Kevin Wright, the 2025 class officers led the guests through a brief retelling of some notable moments from the group’s education at Alba-Golden. Of particular emphasis was the sodium incident in chemistry lab.

William Louderman offered an inspiring speech as the class salutatorian. Louderman unabashedly began his remarks, “I am going to talk about God.”

The salutatorian presented an emotional, inspirational and polished message. He described life as akin to driving down a back country road – full of bumps and potholes, mud and dust. As one negotiates that rough road, it must be kept in mind, that “true peace comes from the presence of God.” As he spoke these words, several ‘Amens’ came out of the crowd.

Louderman thanked principal Wright for sharing what it means to live with purpose, as the young man overcame some excruciating challenges. He ended his remarks with the thought that, “sometimes God lets you hit rock bottom so that you can find out that God is the rock.” Louderman concluded his speech by reciting the passage from Romans 8:18, and challenging his fellow graduates to “Let God be your foundation.”

Olivia Morrison, class valedictorian, followed with equally enlightening remarks. After explaining those things which she will most miss about Alba-Golden schools, Morrison launched into her main message of kindness, compassion and empathy.

“If we are to change the world,” she stated, “we must do it with love and openness for each person – each uniquely created in the image of God.”

Following certification, the seniors received individual diplomas and exited the stage as graduates of Alba-Golden High School. Of note, 100% of the class attained college, career and military readiness, while 46% were designated honor graduates.

The graduation ceremony was certainly a special event for a special class.
