Alba-Golden board OKs contract to close county road behind school
The Alba-Golden School Board on Monday awarded Craig’s Dirt Service the contract for construction of the turnabouts which will truncate County Road 2377 just north of the campus complex.
The contract was for $88,302. The board also approved an associated budget amendment in the amount of $110,000. This amount, drawn from the fund balance, will cover the cost of the road work and the engineering planning.
The board also approved the 2025-26 school year calendar. The first day of school for students will be Monday, Aug. 11. The final day of classes next spring will be Thursday, May 28, 2026. Alba-Golden Schools will continue to operate with a four-day school week.
An order for a May 3 board election was approved. Two board positions are open for election. As of Monday evening, only the incumbents have registered. The deadline for registration is Friday.
In further action, all administrative personnel received a one-year extension to their present contracts. Administrative personnel include principals, assistant principals, the athletic director and the district administrative staff.
Trustees accepted the resignations of Joanna Bowden, Chelsea Dooley, and Terri Chaffin.
The board recognized elementary school student Brayden Earle and secondary school students Lainey White and Simon Ortega as students of the month. Amy Robertson and Melissa Kerry garnered recognition as employees of the month.
