The Alba-Golden track teams put together impressive showings to carry both the girls and boys varsity squads to second place finishes at the 15-2A district meet Thursday in Cooper.

The girls leveraged four blue ribbon performances – Cacie Lennon (100 meters), Bella Crawford (300-meter hurdles), Kalli Wright (shot put) and Abby Hallman (pole vault) – to amass a 154.5 point total.

The 4x100 relay team of Lennon, Hope Wiley, Kalli Trimble and Gracie Teel and 4x200 relay team of Hallman, Kamrin Wright, Trimble and Teel raced to first-place finishes, with the 4x400 meter relay placing second.

Six additional second and third place finishes rounded out the scoring.

Panther Jerry Skinner, who won the 300-meter hurdles, was the only blue ribbon recipient in the boys varsity team. Alba-Golden constructed the second place overall finish with 12 second and third place finishes from 14 athletes.

Of note, Jake Hallman and Glenn Hartley placed in the 100 meters, while the three relay teams finished with a second-place and two third-place performances. Erin Hubbard placed in the shot put and discus.

Athletic Director Drew Webster voiced his excitement at the number of athletes who stepped up their performances for the district meet.

“There have been a number of surprises and a great sense of teamwork,” he shared.

The area meet will be conducted this week back at Bulldog Stadium in Cooper.
