Alba hires new police officer, truck route set
Alba’s search for a new police officer didn’t take long.
In a special meeting Monday, the council authorized the hiring of David Tibbs to fill the patrol position created by the recent resignation of Edward Jaime, who went to work for the Sulphur Springs department.
Tibbs has previously worked part-time in Alba and has been with the county sheriff’s office.
He is scheduled to start Nov. 2.
The council plans to formally adopt a truck route ordinance at its Nov. 1 meeting.
Commercial trucks will be restricted to US Hwy. 69, SH 182, County Road 1600, FM 17, Farrington St. from FM 17 to the east and north city limits, Kirby St. and Simpkins St.
The ordinance will also include language to allow the city to seek damages for violations.
