Alice Maud Petty, 1933-2021

Alice Maud Petty, 87, of Quitman passed away Monday morning, May 3, 2021. Funeral services for Ms. Petty were held at 10 a.m. Saturday May 8, 2021 at the Lowe-Gardner Funeral Chapel. Graveside service followed at Rock Hill Cemetery in Quitman. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the Lowe-Gardner Funeral Chapel.

Alice was born on May 8, 1933 in Quitman. She worked dispatch for Wood County Electric and retired after 14 years. She was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed crafting and spending time with her family.

She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Forest Hershel Leatherwood and Sallie Novelle Leatherwood; brother, Oscar M. Leatherwood; grandson, Joshua D. Powell; and nephew Barry Lynn Leatherwood.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Kathy Lutonsky and husband Walter Lutonsky of Quitman, Gerald Ray Powell and wife Brenda Powell of Quitman and Faron Petty and wife Michelle Petty of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Shanna Taylor and husband Jeff Taylor, Lindsey Spears and husband Richard Spears, Jeremy Powell and wife Brittany Powell, Ashley Johnson and husband Braylon Johnson, Savannah Moss, Stacee Price and husband Jake Price, Cheyenne Madris and Cory Fox, and Tyler Mardis. Also left to cherish her memory are 24 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
