Annual memorial work day benefits animals
The third year of the Gannon family’s work day at Animal Protection of East Texas in Mineola was the most productive yet, according to Kim Gannon, sister of Jeff Gannon in whose memory the work day is held on the anniversary of his death.
Family and friends gathered countless necessities in advance (food, linens, cleaning/office supplies, etc), hosted 23 volunteers (including three kids and two board members) and raised over $3,100.
Everyone played a huge role in helping make the day a success, she said, whether grounds keeping, bathing dogs, entertaining the kittens, painting the shed or cleaning indoors.
“The spirit of this event is bigger than any one of us individually,” she said, “and continues to heal the hearts of friends and family. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support and participation and look forward to doing it again next year!”
