Brooke Barrett and Sarahi Martinez are the top graduates for  the Yantis High School Class of 2021.

The valedictorian is Brooke Barrett, and she is the daughter of Jimmy and Stacey Barrett and sister to Breck and Bryce Barrett.

Throughout high school she has been actively involved in FFA, Beta Club, Student Council, varsity volleyball and varsity softball.

Her true passion has always been for FFA and agriculture. During her time in FFA she was honored to serve in leadership positions such as Yantis FFA president for two years, the 2019-20 Mineola District student advisor and as a 2020-21 Area VI FFA vice president.

Brooke is also a member of Greenpond Baptist Church where she has attended her whole life. Upon graduating, Brooke plans to attend Tarleton State University in the fall where she will major in agricultural services and development with a concentration in ag education.

Her goal is to work as an agri-science educator and FFA advisor. Brooke’s favorite quote is, “Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others.”

Sarahi Martinez is the salutatorian .

She is the oldest daughter of Josefina Loredo and Marcelino Martinez. During her free time she enjoys drawing and painting portraits. Throughout her high school career she has participated in Student Council, Beta Club and academic UIL events.

She also makes it a priority to find time to offer her services to the community at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She is an active member in the youth group and young adult group at St. John the Evangelist, and is thankful for the opportunity to learn more about her faith.

After high school she plans to go to Tyler Junior College on the Presidential Honors Scholarship for medical office management. She has always taken an interest in the medical field and decided she would make the most out of her skills through medical administration. If given the opportunity, she plans to further her education with diagnostic medical sonography to become an ultrasound technician.

Sarahi is grateful for her time at Yantis ISD and hopes to continue on the path of furthering her education as much as possible.
