Billie Wooten Rhodes passed away on Jan. 5, 2022. She was born in Paris, Lamar County on Sept. 7, 1928. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse G. and Nettie Holcomb Wooten; sister, Mrs. Byron B. (Jessie) Campbell; and brother Lloyd C. Wooten; as well as her husband Charles R. Rhodes.

Billie is survived by her devoted son, David R. Rhodes; grandsons, Cameron R. Rhodes and Spencer P. Rhodes of Mineola; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, each one having a special space in her heart.

The Rhodeses lived in Paris after their marriage on April 4, 1952. They moved to the Dallas area in 1957, living in Irving and Lewisville, and owned and operated auto parts stores there.

Son David R. Rhodes was born in January 1969. The family moved to Mineola in 1972. Mineola was so perfect for them, they decided it seemed like home. Charles operated Rhodes Auto Parts until prior to his death in 1993. The Rhodes family joined the First Baptist Church of Mineola upon their arrival in 1972 and have loved and appreciated the Christian fellowship throughout the years.

Billie enjoyed participating in local civic events and considered fellow members of Mineola Study Club, Nu Kappa Beta Sigma Phi, Delphions and numerous bridge clubs as family. She was a past member of the Pilot Club, the Garden Club and friends of the library.
