Caring-Sharing wraps up efforts

Mineola Caring and Sharing wrapped up the 2022 drive by assisting about 260 families from the Mineola area on distribution day Saturday.

“We’re pleased with how Distribution Day went this past Saturday,” said drive chairman Roy Shockey.

Mineola Caring & Sharing began 39 years ago in an effort to combine all resources in Mineola to help the needy at Christmas. That first year in 1983, 300 families or 1,000 people were served. The budget was $9,200. The numbers being served have not changed much over the years except for a healthier budget of over $37,000 due to the generosity of individuals, churches and businesses of Mineola. This budget provides more food, gifts and toys to the needy of Mineola ISD.

The yearly meeting for all volunteers and interested individuals will be held in January to elect directors for the Caring & Sharing 2023 Board and to hear a wrap up of the year.
