Chapel Hill blasts Quitman boys

The Quitman Bulldogs fell victim to a hot shooting Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill team 77-31 to fall to 1-2 in district 13-3A Saturday afternoon at Ballard Memorial Gym.

The Bulldogs fell behind 10-0 before an Aiden Corrior free throw made it 10-1 at the 4:46 mark of the first quarter.

A Landon Richey bucket gave the Bulldogs their only field goal of the quarter. Chapel Hill hit three triples on the way to a 16-3 first quarter advantage.

A 19-7 second quarter advantage by the Red Devils left the Bulldogs down 35-10 at intermission. A relentless Chapel Hill defense gave the Bulldogs problems the entire game.

In the third quarter Chapel Hill continued to harass on defense and scored 17 points to just eight for Quitman. The Red Devils led 52-18 going into the final stanza.

The Bulldogs continue to fight hard but it was not enough as the talented Red Devils added 25 final quarter points while Quitman was able to score 13 to make the final tally 77-31.

Levi Thompson led Quitman with 10 points.

After a bye on Tuesday, the Bulldogs are back in district action Jan. 12 at home against Winnsboro.
