Charles Kenneth Cockrell, 1943-2021

Charles Kenneth Cockrell, of Garland, left his earthly home Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021.

Kenneth was born March 25, 1943 in Franklin County to William Jack and Ila Faye (Hanks).

He started school in Hawkins and moved on to attend schools in Houston and Odessa. Ken was proud of his Texas heritage and never met a stranger. He kept up with football, especially following high school football. Kenneth had met his wife Karen at FBC-Garland and he loved serving wherever he could on Sunday mornings, from the church nursery to the church office. For the past few years, Ken had been living in Quitman and had enjoyed the freedom to get to know those he ran into around town.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Karen, and his parents, Jack and Faye. He leaves behind his daughter, Holley Cockrell Crowson; grandchildren, Corri and Nathan; son, Billy Gavit; grandsons, Dustin and Dylan; his brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Carolyn Cockrell of Houston; brother and sister-in-law, Jackie and Sharon Cockrell of Houston; and sister, Jan Seely of Omaha.

Kenneth’s graveside service was held Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
