Church bringing back community block party in Quitman

Faith Baptist Church is holding “VBS Express Plus! on Saturday, June 5 for the Quitman community from 4-8 p.m. bringing a one-session Vacation Bible School for children followed by a whole family-oriented Community Block Party.

“Faith Baptist missed not having VBS and our block party for the community last summer because of the COVID-19 virus,” said pastor Mike Midkiff. “In rethinking how to provide a safe, family-oriented event for the children of Quitman ISD and surrounding communities to celebrate a great year of learning, a one evening event of fun for the whole family has been planned.”

“VBS Express” will be held in the Faith Baptist Student Center, next to the police station, from 4-6:15 p.m. for children age 4 through completed 5th grade.

“Children will rotate through different stations in the student center to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, learn about prayer, hear the story from the Old Testament about the faith and courage of Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego and create their own special piece of art to take home,” said Faith Baptist VBS co-director Vicki Clark.

The “Plus” to “VBS Express” is the “Faith, Family, Fun and Community Block Party” to be held from 6-8 p.m. on the church parking lot. This event is for the whole community to gather for an evening of games, inflatables, cake walk, grilled hot dogs and more.

All activities planned for “VBS Express Plus!” will be of no expense for those who attend.
