City, school election filing ends next week

Filing continues through next week for area city council and school board elections, which will be held Saturday, May 1.

The filing deadline is Friday, Feb. 12.

City, school election filing ends next week

Filing continues through next week for area city council and school board elections, which will be held Saturday, May 1.

The filing deadline is Friday, Feb. 12.

Mineola city

Council members Jane Lankford and Sue Jones have filed for mayor. Both have one year left on their council terms.

Jack Newman and incumbent Greg Hollen have filed for Ward Two and incumbent  Mitchell Tuck for Ward Three. One seat for Ward One will also be decided.

Mineola ISD

Incumbent Jay McGough has filed for one of the two seats, and Douglas Coffman has also filed.

Quitman city

The three incumbents for the Quitman City Council have filed, Mayor Randy Dunn and Aldermen Brad Medlin and David Dobbs.

Quitman ISD

No one has filed for the three seats to be decided.

 Alba city

Two council positions and the mayor’s post are up for reelection.

Don Heinert, whose council term expires, has filed for mayor. Mayor Preston “Sonny” Hass has indicated he will not seek reelection. 

Alba-Golden ISD

Incumbents Grant Sadler and Mike Ragsdale have filed for reelection to the two school board seats to be decided.

Yantis ISD

Stacy Batchelor and Ashley Vivian have filed for the Yantis School Board. None of the three incumbents had filed as of Tuesday.
