Commissioners approve bridge replacement project
Wood County has entered an agreement with the Texas Dept. of Transportation to replace bridges on three county roads.
Under the federal off-road project, TxDOT will put in new bridges on CR 3987 at Turkey Creek, CR 4730 at Indian Creek and CR 4750 at Indian Creek within Prec. 4.
To satisfy its 10% match for the project, Wood County will replace a bridge on CR 3600 at Rogers Creek in Prec. 3.
Prec. 4 Commission Russell Acker said the last such project took about five years, and this one is already going on two years.
“There will be more and more paperwork as we go,” he said.
Also on Tuesday, May 27, commissioners approved a 30-day extension for the deadline for Emergency Services District #1 to file its fiscal year 2024 audit with the county.
In a special meeting Wednesday, May 21, commissioners approved two resolutions authorizing submission for grants.
One for the county’s emergency management office with the Local Emergency Planning Committee of the Texas Commission on Environmental Qualilty would fund $13,131 for radios and $219 for copy paper.
The other for the sheriff’s office is with the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority’s catalytic converter grant program to assist in curbing thefts of converters from vehicles.
